Hermès Carré 90 Scarves
The Hermès Carré 90 is the house's original silk scarf. The first one appeared in 1937, and each 90cm square has been printed in silk twill ever since, with designs drawn by artists and reissued in new colourways over the decades. That makes the pre-owned market the deepest source of past designs.
Look at the hand-rolled hem, which should be rolled towards the front and hand-stitched, and check the silk for pulls, stains or fading. The design name and artist's signature are printed into most patterns, and a care label is sewn into many newer scarves. Every Carré is inspected and graded on our Condition Guide and covered by our Authenticity Guarantee.
Which size?
The Carré 90 is the classic square for the neck and shoulders. For something smaller, the Carré 55 and bandanas and the Twilly are easier to tie.
