The Louis Vuitton Speedy is the house’s most enduring everyday bag. Introduced in the 1930s as the Express and renamed Speedy to capture the fast pace of modern travel, it was famously shrunk to the petite 25cm size in 1965 at the request of Audrey Hepburn, who wanted a smaller version to carry day to day. That barrel silhouette — rolled leather handles, brass zip, padlock — has barely changed in ninety years, which is exactly why it holds value on the pre-owned market.
